• My experience trying for an upgrade — UNSUCCESSFUL

Last week I wrote about the things I look for when booking a hotel (for personal travel). Out of all the things that hotels offer on the surface, there is so much more if you dig a bit deeper. Being a classic millenial, I think that I deserve the finer things in life — and what that means is upgrades to First Class on planes, and upgrades to suites at hotels. Getting the infamous upgraded suite can be tricky, but I hope to shed some light on my experiences. Some hotels don’t have the option to upgrade, some don’t have enough rooms, and some are just too popular to even try. But this last…

The one site you must visit when booking an award flight

There are many “tricks” to booking award flights — and flights in general. Whether it is transferring to certain partners, or booking over the phone to find “hidden” fares, there are tons of different avenues you can go down to land that perfect deal. Fortunately, as technology increases, and the knowledge around points and miles follows, it is becoming easier and more affordable to book with miles. • Should I get the Chase Freedom or Chase Freedom Unlimited?

I was recently approved for the Chase Ink Business Preferred card, which for now is the credit card that I am focused on. The minimum spend to get the 80,000 point sign up bonus is $5,000 in 3 months, so I don’t want to add any more spending on top of that. But as any points enthusiast should do is plan ahead — and in this case I am planning what card I will target next. I talked in a previous post about the ideal card for someone getting started in credit cards and points and miles — which I pointed to the Chase Freedom Unlimited. Not only will you…

I’m considering giving some of my business to United

Disclaimer: I began this post the night before my fiasco with United and Marriott started. The issue was never resolved, so I ended up flying without my status, but I will be following up on the issue directly with United. For the purposes of this post, I am removing that hiccup from my memory. I want to start off saying that I won’t ever talk ill of Delta. I have not only traveled with Delta the most over the past year, but I have had the least amount of issues with them. On a weekly basis, I firmly believe Delta is the best airline to travel with. From the people…

  • Chase brings back Best Buy bonus

Right before Christmas Chase was running a promotion on purchases made at Best Buy through the Chase Pay app. That same offer has returned. The promo is pretty straightforward, use the Chase Pay app and receive points. Let’s break down the key points though. Key Points The offer is valid with other Chase cards, including the Chase Freedom — although you cannot combine this onto other bonuses. In other words, 10% cash is the max you can receive on purchases. (H/T Doctor of Credit) This is valid for up to $300 in purchases from Best Buy, down from the $400 that was offered around the holidays. The offer is valid…
