• One man’s strategy to getting targeted for promotions

I think the points and miles gods are finally beginning to hear my prayers. For a while now I have always wondered what the secret ingredient was to getting targeted for an airline or hotel promotion. I’ve traveled a lot, I’m active across different programs, but for some reason I haven’t done enough to be awarded what I consider to be the honor of a targeted promotion. • Is Virgin Atlantic Upper Class worth 85,000 SkyMiles

I recently wrote about planning a trip to Europe, in which I outlined a sort of trick I’ve found in booking award tickets. While I mentioned in that article that I was focused on using my Chase Ultimate Rewards points, I have also considered using Delta miles for one leg as I have quite a bit of SkyMiles built up from business travel. Being a classic millenial, I think that I deserve the finer things in life — and what that means is upgrades to First Class on planes, and upgrades to suites at hotels. Getting the infamous upgraded suite can be tricky, but I hope to shed some light on my experiences. Some hotels don’t have the option to upgrade, some don’t have enough rooms, and some are just too popular to even try. But this last…

There are many “tricks” to booking award flights — and flights in general. Whether it is transferring to certain partners, or booking over the phone to find “hidden” fares, there are tons of different avenues you can go down to land that perfect deal. Fortunately, as technology increases, and the knowledge around points and miles follows, it is becoming easier and more affordable to book with miles. As I look ahead to some award travel, I wanted to share the one website that you must use if you intend to book with points. That website is awardhacker.com. This website is a commonplace for all points and miles enthusiasts. The Basics: AwardHacker is…
